How Does Lime Storage Silo Work

When powdered lime needs to be stored, it is rapidly and efficiently conveyed into the storage silo through the feed pipe using compressed air from a powder delivery vehicle. During this process, the mixture of lime powder and compressed air first enters the dust collector located at the top of the silo. The dust collector, equipped with a specialized internal filtration structure, captures lime particles suspended in the air stream. As a result, only purified air is discharged outside the silo, achieving dust-free feeding and maintaining a clean working environment.

 

During storage, the level gauge continuously monitors the material height and transmits real-time signals to the control system. When the material reaches the preset high level, the system automatically issues an alarm to prompt the operator to stop feeding. Conversely, when the material falls to a low level, another alarm is triggered to remind the operator to replenish materials on time.

 

When material discharge is required, the process begins by activating the arch-breaking device at the bottom of the silo. This device uses high-frequency vibrations to break up any material arching, restoring smooth material flow. Next, a variable frequency speed control feeder precisely regulates the discharge rate in accordance with the production process's set flow requirements. The material is then conveyed by a screw conveyor to the lime milk dissolution tank, where it is prepared into lime slurry. This system ensures a precise and stable supply of material throughout the process.

1. Fully enclosed structure, effectively avoiding leakage and greatly improving the on-site operating environment

To address the challenges of dust emission and lime powder clumping, which can lead to workshop pollution, equipment blockages, and adverse onsite production environments. Our lime storage silo is engineered with a fully enclosed structure and reinforced sealing. All critical entry points, such as the inlet, outlet, and manhole, feature corrosion-resistant sealing mechanisms to prevent dust leakage during operation. Additionally, a safety breathing valve is installed at the top of the silo to balance internal pressure, effectively preventing both negative pressure suction and positive pressure leakage.

2. Precision measurement

A variable frequency speed control star-shaped unloader, paired with a high-precision screw conveyor and a high-precision feeding pump at the discharge end, enables stepless adjustment of the feeding rate from 0% to 100%. This integrated system ensures highly accurate lime powder measurement and stable feeding, fully meeting the demands for precision and consistency in the process.

3. High degree of automation, automatically adjusting the dosage based on feedback from the on-site process system

Based on the PLC control module, real-time on-site process data can be collected and compared with preset parameters for analysis. The system will continuously optimize the dosing logic over time and control the dosing deviation within ± 0.5%. The system supports seamless integration with customers' existing DCS systems through industrial protocols such as MODBUS, becoming a "self-operated node" in the production chain.

4. Special stable arch breaking design

The bottom arch breaking device has been carefully developed, using an innovative combination of mechanical vibration and airflow vibration assistance. The high-frequency vibration generated by the vibration motor directly acts on the material through the arch breaking mechanism, breaking the bonding force between the materials; At the same time, the air vibration device releases high-pressure airflow at key positions promptly, impacting the material arch from multiple angles, efficiently and safely preventing material arching and bridging, ensuring smooth material discharge, greatly improving production efficiency, and reducing production downtime caused by poor discharge.

5. Modular design, on-site assembly

The overall system is designed as a modular assembly structure, prefabricated and assembled in the factory, and then disassembled and shipped after trial assembly is correct. On-site installation personnel can independently complete the installation of the entire silo system according to the detailed and clear installation manual we provide, without the need for technical guidance from our company.
